Quantumscape Corporation
A developer of next-generation solid-state lithium-metal batteries for electric vehicles, QuantumScape replaces the liquid electrolyte found in conventional lithium-ion cells with a proprietary solid ceramic separator, aiming for longer range, faster charging, and safer packs. The company was founded in 2010 by Jagdeep Singh, Dr. Tim Holme, and Stanford professor Fritz Prinz as a spin-out from Stanford research, and it counts Volkswagen among its earliest partners. Its name blends "quantum" (a nod to a transformative leap) with "scape," evoking a new landscape of energy storage.
