Radioshack Corporation
A retailer of electronics and hobbyist gear, RadioShack sold everything from batteries and cables to the TRS-80, one of the first mass-produced home computers, which it launched in 1977. Founded in 1921 in Boston by brothers Theodore and Milton Deutschmann, the company began as a mail-order shop supplying amateur "ham" radio operators and maritime radio officers. The name came from the small wooden structure that housed a ship's radio equipment — the term "shack" was also what hobbyists called their own radio stations.
