Rite Aid Corporation
A pharmacy chain that grew from a single discount store in Scranton, Pennsylvania, into one of the largest drugstore networks in the United States, filling prescriptions and selling health and beauty products at thousands of locations. Founder Alex Grass opened the first store in 1962 as Thrif D Discount Center and renamed the company Rite Aid in 1968, a play on "Right Aid." After closing its remaining physical stores in 2025, the brand now lives on as an online health-services platform offering lab testing.
