SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust
An exchange-traded fund that bundles the thirty blue-chip stocks of the Dow Jones Industrial Average into a single security, letting everyday investors own a slice of the whole index in one trade. Launched in 1998 as the first ETF to track the Dow, it belongs to the SPDR family—an acronym for Standard & Poor's Depositary Receipts that traders pronounce "spider." Its ticker, DIA, earned it the nickname "Diamonds," while the index it follows dates back to 1896.
