Simon Property Group, Inc.

A real estate investment trust that owns, develops, and manages shopping destinations, including malls, Premium Outlets, and Mills centers across the United States, Puerto Rico, and dozens of countries in Asia, Europe, and Canada. It was founded in 1960 in Indianapolis by brothers Melvin, Herbert, and Fred Simon, who started with small strip centers anchored by grocery stores; the company took the Simon name when it went public in 1993. Melvin Simon, a Brooklyn native and former leasing agent, persuaded his brothers to join him in Indiana after his Army posting there.
