Ashtead Group Plc
A major equipment rental company, Ashtead Group runs Sunbelt Rentals, letting builders and contractors rent everything from hand tools to excavators, aerial work platforms, and power generators rather than buying them. It began in 1947 as Ashtead Plant and Tool Hire in the English village of Ashtead, Surrey, taking its name from the village, and later expanded by buying the American firm Sunbelt Rentals in 1990. Today it ranks among the world's largest equipment rental providers.
