Sotheby's
One of the world's oldest and largest auction houses, Sotheby's connects collectors with fine art, jewelry, watches, wine, and even collectible cars through live and online auctions as well as private sales. It began in 1744 as a London bookseller founded by Samuel Baker, and took its name from his nephew John Sotheby, whose family ran it for over 80 years. In 2018, a Banksy painting famously shredded itself moments after selling on Sotheby's block, instantly becoming a new work of art.
