Southwest Airlines Co.
A major U.S. passenger airline that flies a point-to-point network of Boeing 737 jets to more than a hundred destinations across the country and nearby international spots. Founded in 1967 by Rollin King and his attorney Herb Kelleher as Air Southwest Co., it began flying in 1971 from Dallas Love Field, where it leaned into the airport's name with a playful "Love" brand and the LUV stock ticker. The airport itself was named for Army Lieutenant Moss Lee Love, a pioneer aviator killed in a 1913 training crash.
