Spartannash Company
A food distributor and grocery retailer that stocks independent supermarkets and U.S. military commissaries and exchanges, and runs its own Midwestern stores under banners like Family Fare and Martin's Super Markets. It began in 1917 when a group of independent Michigan grocers joined forces, and in 2013 merged with Nash Finch to become SpartanNash. Its name honors Michigan State University's Spartans — the company even used a sword-and-shield warrior logo on its store brands.
