Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.
A maker of power tools, hand tools, and outdoor gear sold under brands like DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN, BLACK+DECKER, and Cub Cadet for tradespeople and home DIYers. It came to be in 2010 when two old American firms merged: Stanley, founded in 1843 as a Connecticut bolt shop, and Black & Decker, whose 1917 handheld electric drill with a pistol grip transformed the job site. Fun twist: a cousin of Stanley's founder ran the Stanley Rule and Level Company, whose wooden hand planes were beloved by generations of craftsmen.
