Tesco Plc
A British grocery and general-merchandise retail chain, Tesco runs supermarkets, convenience shops and an online delivery service across the UK, Ireland and parts of continental Europe, selling food alongside clothing, electronics and household goods. It began in 1919 when Jack Cohen sold war-surplus groceries from a market stall in East London, and he later opened his first shop in 1931. The name comes from a tea supplier, T. E. Stockwell, combined with the start of Cohen's own surname — "Tesco" was born when he bought that tea in 1924.
