Tessera Technologies Inc

A technology company that pioneered chip-scale semiconductor packaging, helping shrink the electronics that power devices like cell phones and digital cameras. Founded in 1990 in San Jose, California, Tessera built a business around licensing these miniaturization technologies to chipmakers, later folding in the imaging brand FotoNation and the audio brand DTS before becoming Xperi. Its name comes from the Latin word for a single mosaic tile, a fitting nod to a firm that saw itself as one piece of a larger whole.
