Transcat Inc
A maker of accredited calibration and compliance services, Transcat also distributes and rents test-and-measurement instruments — over 75,000 of them from roughly 400 brands — to life sciences, aerospace, defense, and energy customers. Founded in 1964 as Transmation, it took its name from its 1982 product catalog, the "Transcatalog," later shortened to Transcat. The company opened its first calibration lab in its hometown of Rochester, New York, in 1988.

Organic service grew again, and expanded. Revenue rose 21.6% to $89.3 million and gross margin reached 34.1%, the highest in at least five years, driven by a return to and a favorable mix of higher-margin rentals. The company is growing profitably at the gross level, but $110.4 million in variable-rate debt means interest costs are consuming those gains.
Transcat states there are no current claims or proceedings expected to have a material adverse effect on its consolidated financial statements.
