Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc.
A major American media and entertainment company that owned the Fox broadcast network, Fox News, Fox Sports, and the 20th Century Fox film and television studios behind movies like Avatar and hits like The Simpsons. It was created in 2013 when Rupert Murdoch split his News Corporation empire, keeping the entertainment assets under the 21st Century Fox name while the publishing side kept the News Corp label. The "20th Century Fox" name itself dates to a 1935 merger of Fox Film and Twentieth Century Pictures, and its famous searchlight logo was designed to evoke the excitement of a Hollywood movie premiere. In 2019 the company's entertainment assets were sold to Disney, with the remaining TV networks spun off into a new Fox Corporation.
