Twitter Inc.
A social media and microblogging platform where people share short, real-time messages, news, and public conversation — now known as X after Elon Musk's 2022 acquisition. It was born in 2006 as a side project inside a podcasting startup called Odeo, when Jack Dorsey proposed an SMS-based service for quick status updates. The original code name "twttr" dropped its vowels to fit five-character SMS short codes, and the famous blue bird logo was nicknamed "Larry the Bird" after Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird, a favorite of co-founder Biz Stone.
