Vanguard Specialized Funds
A family of mutual funds that lets everyday investors put money into a single slice of the economy at a time — a whole industry like health care, energy, or real estate — rather than buying the entire stock market at once. The funds trace back to 1975, when John Bogle left Wellington Management and launched an investor-owned firm he named Vanguard. The name honors the HMS Vanguard, the British warship that carried Admiral Nelson at the Battle of the Nile, and the ship long appeared in the company's logo.
