A homebuilder and community developer that built houses and master-planned neighborhoods for active adults (55 and older) and move-up buyers across Florida, the Carolinas, Arizona, and Texas. Its roots reach back to 1933, when it began as Avatar Holdings, a company that spent decades in finance, insurance, and manufacturing before turning to real estate. It renamed itself AV Homes in 2012 to sharpen its identity, and was later folded into Taylor Morrison in 2018.
