Weibo Corporation
A Chinese social-media platform that lets users share short updates, photos and videos, Weibo is often described as China's answer to Twitter, and its name literally means "microblog" in Chinese (a blend of "micro" and "blog"). It was launched in 2009 by the internet company Sina as "Sina Weibo," then spun off and listed on the U.S. stock market in 2014. Fun fact: "weibo" was once a generic Chinese word for any microblogging service before Sina's version made the name its own.
