Weyerhaeuser Company
A company that grows and harvests timber on millions of acres of forestland and turns it into lumber and engineered wood products used in homebuilding. Founded in 1900 by German immigrant Frederick Weyerhaeuser, the "Timber King," and 15 partners, it began with a purchase of nearly a million acres of Washington timberland from the Northern Pacific Railway. The company still bears his name and today operates as a real estate investment trust.
