Windrock Land Company
A land-management company, Windrock Land Company began in 1872 as The Coal Creek Mining and Manufacturing Company, when three landowners pooled disputed acreage to settle a legal stalemate and tap the region's coal. For over a century it leased land to mine operators, then renamed itself Windrock in 2020. Today it runs Windrock Park, the largest privately owned off-road vehicle park in the United States, with hundreds of miles of trails. The name comes from the mountain's windy, rocky ridges.
