Xanadu Quantum Technologies Limited
A Toronto-based company building quantum computers that use particles of light rather than the superconducting circuits used by most rivals. Its open-source PennyLane software lets researchers write quantum programs that run on many different machines. Founded in 2016 by Australian physicist Christian Weedbrook, it takes its name from the utopian city in Coleridge's poem "Kubla Khan"—fitting, since its founder began as a film student before switching to physics.
