A global brokerage and financial technology firm, BGC Group (formerly BGC Partners) helps banks, hedge funds and governments discover prices and execute trades across bonds, interest rates and other markets. It grew out of Cantor Fitzgerald, the brokerage founded in 1945, and its name honors founder Bernard Gerald Cantor. A striking piece of history: Cantor Fitzgerald's electronic trading system, whose servers sat outside New York, kept running even after the firm lost hundreds of employees in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
