A German maker of everyday household and industrial products, Henkel is the company behind Persil laundry detergent, Schwarzkopf hair care, Pritt glue sticks, and Loctite adhesives. It was founded in 1876 by Fritz Henkel in Aachen, Germany, and named after him. Its famous Persil detergent, launched in 1907, was the world's first self-acting laundry powder, and its name comes from its two key ingredients: perborate and silicate.
