The Drilling Company of 1972 A/s
A provider of offshore drilling services, this Danish company ran a fleet of jack-up rigs, semi-submersibles, and drillships that bored for oil and gas in harsh environments and deep waters around the world. It began in 1972 as the drilling arm of the A.P. Moller–Maersk shipping group, and when that division was spun off in 2019 it took the legal name "The Drilling Company of 1972" — a nod to its founding year — while still doing business as Maersk Drilling. In 2022 it merged with the American rig operator Noble Corporation.
