Arris International Plc
A maker of the cable modems, wireless gateways, and set-top boxes that carry internet and TV into millions of homes, Arris is best known for its SURFboard line of modems. It began in 1995 as Arris Interactive, a joint venture between Nortel Networks and Antec, before the latter took full control and renamed it Arris in 2001. A fun twist: the SURFboard name actually came from Motorola, which Arris inherited when it bought Motorola's home business in 2013. In 2019 Arris itself was bought by CommScope and now lives on as that company's brand.
