HH&L Acquisition Co.
A special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC), or "blank check" firm, formed to raise money from investors and then merge with a private company to take it public. HH&L, set up in 2020 and based in Hong Kong, aimed to find a healthcare business in Asian markets, especially Greater China, and was led by former Goldman Sachs executive Kenneth Hitchner. It never sealed a deal — a planned merger with diagnostics firm DiaCarta fell through in 2023 — and it wound down in early 2024, returning money to its shareholders.
