A maker of the wildly popular mobile game Candy Crush Saga, King creates casual puzzle games played by people around the world on phones and tablets. Founded in 2003 in Stockholm by seven friends, the company first called itself Midasplayer.com — a nod to the myth of King Midas, whose touch turned everything to gold — before renaming itself King in 2005, inspired by its own player-ranking system that crowned top players "king" or "queen."
