A global offshore drilling contractor that rents out its fleet of drillships and jack-up rigs, along with crews, to oil and gas companies exploring beneath the ocean floor. It was born in 2019 from the merger of two drilling giants, Ensco and Rowan, and took the name Valaris from a Latin root meaning strength, courage, and value. The name was chosen with input from employees worldwide after the merger.
