Unilever Plc
A giant maker of everyday home and personal-care goods, Unilever puts familiar brands like Dove, Hellmann's, and Lipton in bathrooms and kitchens around the world. It was born in 1930 when the British soap maker Lever Brothers merged with the Dutch margarine firm Margarine Unie — the name stitches together "Unie" and "Lever." Its "U" logo is actually woven from 25 tiny icons, including a bee and a sun nodding to Port Sunlight, the village Lever Brothers built for its soap workers.
