A payments and technology company that helps international travelers get refunds on the sales tax (VAT) they pay on purchases abroad, letting tourists shop and reclaim tax in more than 50 countries. It started in 1980 in Sweden, founded by Birger Lundberg, who wanted to make his home country more attractive to foreign shoppers. Its name evolved over the years — from Sweden Tax Free Shopping to Global Refund — before it finally rebranded to Global Blue in 2010.
