Chocoladefabriken Lindt & Sprüngli AG
A maker of premium chocolates, this Swiss company produces the famous gold-wrapped Lindt chocolate bunnies and the melt-in-your-mouth Lindor truffles enjoyed around the world. It was born from an 1899 merger of two chocolate families: Rodolphe Lindt of Bern, who invented a smooth-making machine called the "conche" (named after a conch shell), and the Sprüngli confectioners of Zurich. Legend says Lindt discovered the silky process by accidentally leaving his mixing machine running over an entire weekend.
