Tyco International Ltd

A maker of fire protection and electronic security systems, Tyco International built well-known brands like the ADT home-security service, Grinnell sprinklers, and Ansul fire suppression gear used by businesses, homeowners, and industrial sites. It began in 1960 as a Massachusetts research lab founded by scientist Arthur J. Rosenberg, grew into a giant through a long string of acquisitions, and in 2016 merged with Johnson Controls. Fun fact: the name "Tyco" is a shortened, stylized version of its original name, Tyco Laboratories, Inc.
