Swire Pacific Limited
A Hong Kong-based conglomerate that owns major property developments (including Pacific Place and Taikoo Place), bottles Coca-Cola across Asia, and is the largest shareholder of Cathay Pacific Airways. It traces back to a Liverpool trading firm founded by John Swire in 1816, which opened its first China office in Shanghai in 1866 as Butterfield & Swire. Its Chinese name, Taikoo, means "Great and Ancient" and was chosen as a visual pun that resembles the characters for "Big Luck."
