Seven & I Holdings Co Ltd
A Japanese retail holding company behind the iconic 7-Eleven convenience stores, running tens of thousands of them across Japan, North America and beyond, along with supermarkets and the Denny's restaurant chain. It was formed in 2005 when Ito-Yokado, Seven-Eleven Japan and Denny's Japan merged under one roof. The "7-Eleven" name itself is an American story: the chain, born in 1927 as the Southland Ice Company, renamed itself in 1946 to advertise its then-remarkable opening hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
