Carlsberg A/s
A Danish brewing giant that makes beer, cider and other drinks sold in dozens of countries, under names like Carlsberg, Tuborg, Kronenbourg 1664, Grimbergen, Somersby and Brooklyn. It was founded in 1847 by J.C. Jacobsen, who built his brewery on a hill in Valby outside Copenhagen and named it after his son Carl — "Carl's hill." Fun fact: its founder once smuggled pure yeast back from Bavaria in a custom hat box to perfect his lager.
