A Danish healthcare company that makes medicines and insulin-pen devices for people living with diabetes and obesity, including the well-known injectable treatments Ozempic and Wegovy. It was born in 1989 when two rival Danish insulin makers—Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium and Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium—finally merged into one. The older of the two traces back to 1923, when Nobel-winning scientist August Krogh, whose wife had diabetes, traveled to Canada to secure the rights to bring insulin production home to Denmark.
