Nextgen Acquisition Corp. II
A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a "blank check" shell created not to run a business but to find a private company to take public. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, it was led by George Mattson, a former Goldman Sachs partner, and Gregory Summe, a former PerkinElmer CEO. In 2021 it merged with Virgin Orbit, the satellite-launch company backed by Richard Branson, and took the name Virgin Orbit Holdings. The "NextGen" name nods to the founders' aim of backing next-generation technologies.
Units, each consisting of one Class A ordinary share and one redeemable warrant — Merged with Virgin Orbit (VORB) on December 29, 2021. Virgin Orbit filed for bankruptcy in April 2023 and was delisted.
