Eurofins Scientific SE
A network of laboratories that tests food, drinks, medicines, cosmetics, and the environment to check that they are safe, pure, and authentic. Founded in 1987 in France, it began with a technology (SNIF-NMR) invented by one founder's parents at the University of Nantes that could detect when wine had been secretly watered down or sweetened. Its name blends "Euro" (for Europe) with "fins," from the acronym of that original wine-testing method. Today its labs stretch across dozens of countries.
