Heineken Holding N.v.
A Dutch holding company that controls Heineken N.V., one of the world's largest brewers, whose brands include Heineken lager, Amstel, and Tiger. The brewing roots trace to 1864, when Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought a small Amsterdam brewery called De Hooiberg (The Haystack); the holding company itself was created in 1952 to keep the family in charge. A fun detail: the signature Heineken A-yeast, developed in 1886 by a student of Louis Pasteur, is still used in every batch today.
