A Dutch maritime services company that dredges shipping channels and harbors, reclaims land from the sea, and protects coastlines from flooding, with a fleet of specialized vessels working worldwide. It began in 1910 in Sliedrecht as a family dredging firm, was renamed after the Bos and Kalis families in the 1930s, and later merged with Britain's Westminster Dredging. The Dutch monarch granted it the "Royal" (Koninklijke) title in 1978, and its SMIT Salvage arm helped right the capsized cruise ship Costa Concordia.
