Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd
A diversified investment holding company based in Singapore and part of the Jardine Matheson Group, it invests across Southeast Asia, most notably holding a controlling stake in Astra International, the Indonesian conglomerate spanning autos, finance, and heavy equipment. It began in 1899 as a Kuala Lumpur sundry shop called the Federal Store, selling soaps and bicycles, and was renamed Cycle & Carriage in 1926. In 1951 it became the first company to distribute Mercedes-Benz in Southeast Asia.
