Bhp Group Limited
A global mining company, BHP digs up and processes iron ore, copper, metallurgical coal, and potash that end up in steel, wiring, and fertilizer across the world. It traces its roots to 1883, when a sheep-station boundary rider named Charles Rasp and six colleagues—the "Syndicate of Seven"—found silver, lead, and zinc at a rocky outcrop called the Broken Hill in the Australian outback, and incorporated the Broken Hill Proprietary Company in 1885. It became BHP Group after merging with the Anglo-Dutch mining firm Billiton in 2001, keeping its old initials as shorthand for that long-ago hill.
