A maker of cinema equipment and projection screens, Ballantyne Strong builds large-format screens and technical systems used by movie theaters, theme parks, and venues like IMAX. Founded in 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska by Robert Scott Ballantyne, it got its start manufacturing sound and air-conditioning gear for movie houses before moving into film projectors. The "Strong" in its name came from a merger with Strong Electric of Toledo, the company behind the iconic "Super Trouper" spotlight that lit up arenas worldwide and inspired ABBA's 1980 hit of the same name.
