Vidler Water Resources, Inc.
A water resource company based in Carson City, Nevada, that buys up water rights in the arid western United States and converts them from agricultural use to supply for towns, developers, and industry. Its name comes from Rees Vidler, who bought a Colorado silver mine in 1902 that became the Vidler Tunnel, a project diverting water beneath the Continental Divide; the modern company began in 1995 when it acquired that tunnel and its water rights. Today it operates as a division of the homebuilder D.R. Horton, which bought it in 2022 to secure water for its housing developments.
