Furmanite Corporation
A specialist in keeping industrial plants running, Furmanite sealed leaks, machined parts on-site, and inspected pipelines and vessels for refineries, power stations, and shipyards. The company grew out of an invention by shipyard worker Eugene Clay Furman, who in 1920 devised a way to stop leaks in steam-driven naval ships without shutting them down. Its name simply honors its founder, and the firm became a global provider of these specialty services before being folded into Team, Inc. in 2016.
