A builder of single-family homes and residential communities in fast-growing Sun Belt states like Florida, Arizona, Texas and the Carolinas. The company got its start in 1970 and for decades operated under the name Avatar Holdings before rebranding as AV Homes in 2012 — the initials quietly echoing its old identity. In 2018 it was folded into the national homebuilder Taylor Morrison, which kept building on the communities it had started.
