Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize N.v.
A grocery retail giant behind familiar supermarket brands like Albert Heijn, Stop & Shop, Food Lion, and Giant, serving shoppers across Europe and the United States. It was born in 2016 from the merger of Dutch chain Ahold and Belgian chain Delhaize, whose roots go back to the 1800s — Ahold began in 1887 when Albert Heijn opened his first Dutch store. Its name carries the Dutch word "Koninklijke," meaning "royal," an honor granted when Ahold marked its first hundred years in 1987.
