Proximus S.a.
One of Belgium's largest telecom groups, Proximus provides mobile, home internet, digital TV, and landline services to consumers and businesses across Belgium, alongside budget brand Scarlet. Its roots go back to 1930, when the state founded the Régie de télégraphes et téléphones to run the country's phone network, reorganized in the 1990s as Belgacom. The name comes from the Latin word for "nearest," and the Proximus brand was born in 1994 as a mobile joint venture before being adopted for the whole group in 2014.
