Mediatek Inc.
A fabless semiconductor company in Hsinchu, Taiwan, MediaTek designs the chips that power many of the world's smartphones, including its Dimensity and Helio processor families. It was founded in 1997 as a spin-off from Taiwan's United Microelectronics Corporation, starting with chips for CD-ROM and DVD players before moving into mobile. The name blends "media" and "technology," and its Dimensity line takes its name from the idea of a "fifth dimension" of mobile performance.
