A state-owned Indonesian bank offering everyday banking, loans, corporate and international services to individuals, businesses, and institutions. Founded in 1946 in Yogyakarta as the first bank created by the newly independent Indonesian government, it originally served as the country's central bank and even distributed the first official Indonesian currency, the Oeang Republik Indonesia. Its name simply means "State Bank of Indonesia," and its founding date is now celebrated as National Bank Day.
